Thanksgiving in the Woods

Categories Life

This Thanksgiving we decided to do something different and it may just become a tradition. Typically, we go to Spokane to spend the long weekend with my dad’s side of the family, but this year instead of driving to Spokane we met the family halfway in Cle Elum. We rented a log cabin … more like a lodge in the woods. There were 28 of us – family came in from the Seattle area, Bellingham, Spokane, and California.

I’m quite sure it’s a Thanksgiving none of us will forget. People went fishing, hiking, exploring, built a bonfire, watched football, drank a lot of wine, ate delicious food, played ping-pong, pool, boardgames, and card games. And my dad became a pro bartender at making me White Russians.

Spending time with my family is my absolute favorite thing. We all get along so well, enjoy each other’s company, laugh a lot, have great conversations, make tons of memories, and miss each other dearly when we’re apart. You don’t find a lot of families like ours – we’re pretty special.

Jesus. Husband. Family. Schnoodle. Spaghetti.
