Church Hunting

I have been talking about trying to find a new church for quite some time now. Marty and I went to a church for a while that we loved – he would still choose to go there – but I wanted something different. Here is our dilemma. Marty wants the worship to be great. He’s very particular. I want the pastor to be a teacher. I want to learn and really grow in my faith. I also want there to be a variety of small…Continue Reading “Church Hunting”

A Home to Gather – Memorial Day

After we bought our house and started thinking about the new design and remodel, the one thing that was and forever will be most important to me is a house for entertaining. I wanted a kitchen that had a big island for people to gather around, a dining room table that extends to sit lots of people at, french doors from our family room to our patio so it feels like an extension of the house, a big patio with a bbq, lots of furniture,…Continue Reading “A Home to Gather – Memorial Day”

07.29.18

Our wedding day. What an absolutely perfect, beautiful, joyful day. I cannot say enough good things. We truly felt so loved, supported, and celebrated by all our friends and family. And, on a side note, too bad nobody got my dad’s speech on video because damn, that was a tear jerker. Marriage has been wonderful and hard and so fun and such a big adjustment. It’s been great learning to love someone on a totally new level. There’s no one else I’d want to go…Continue Reading “07.29.18”

Five Years

Today is a day I’m thankful. I’m thankful for my life. Five years ago it changed forever. While, of course, I still have challenges and get frustrated daily about something related to my injury, I look back and realize these last five years have been a wild adventure. I have such wonderful memories that I hold near and dear to my heart. Today I want to say thank you to the people who are living life with me, support me, challenge me, encourage me, love…Continue Reading “Five Years”

Game Night

I got the dice game Tenzies in my Christmas stocking this year and couldn’t help but buy Watch Ya’ Mouth (the mouthpiece game) after watching all the hilarious videos on Facebook. Therefore, my family has been very into game night lately. On Saturday my mom made pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, and homemade french fries – YUM. And then we got into the competition of the games. The players were my mom, dad, Dale, his friend Heidi, Marty, and me. We’ve played Tenzies, Pieface Showdown, Watch…Continue Reading “Game Night”

Happy 2017

I got to bring in the new year with my boyfriend and great friends. Aimee, Emily, and I have known each other since we were three – we went to preschool together. It was such fun. We ate lots of tasty appetizers, drank too much wine, and played Cards Against Humanity. It was my kind of New Year’s Eve.

Christmas in the Sun

Every Christmas since I can remember we spend with my dad’s side of the family. So this year it was very fun to go to Miami and be with my mom’s family. Although, being in the sun and heat for Christmas was definitely an adjustment. It was a very busy week and a half! we celebrated my grandma’s birthday ate Nicaraguan food – my favorite is the fried cheese of course spent a lot of time on Snapchat with my nieces … they are three,…Continue Reading “Christmas in the Sun”

Thanksgiving in the Woods

This Thanksgiving we decided to do something different and it may just become a tradition. Typically, we go to Spokane to spend the long weekend with my dad’s side of the family, but this year instead of driving to Spokane we met the family halfway in Cle Elum. We rented a log cabin … more like a lodge in the woods. There were 28 of us – family came in from the Seattle area, Bellingham, Spokane, and California. I’m quite sure it’s a Thanksgiving none…Continue Reading “Thanksgiving in the Woods”

Lights, Camera, Action

Guys! I started shooting for Rolling with Emma the TV show, coming 2017 … just kidding! (I wish though!) But I did get to be a movie star for a couple hours. The University of Washington has been putting something together called the Empowerment Project to get information out to people with spinal cord injuries. I have starred in three of their videos – two on respiratory management and the latest on hand function. As many of you know I love volunteering my time to help…Continue Reading “Lights, Camera, Action”
