Seahawks game in the sun

In September, we escaped the gray rainy weather for a few days and headed down to sunny, hot Arizona. My dad and his business partners bought a house there to rent on Airbnb and then each partner and their family can use it a couple weeks a year. About a year ago, when my dad told me they bought the house, the first thing I said was, “our family gets it the weekend the Seahawks play the Cardinals!!” I’m a huge Seahawks fan but can’t…Continue Reading “Seahawks game in the sun”

Miami

This post is a bit late but I love the pictures so much I had to still share about my time in Miami. This was a bit of an impromptu trip. While Marty and I were in Mexico for our honeymoon, my mom told me she and my dad were going to visit my grandma shortly after we got back. I immediately asked if I could join – I hadn’t seen my grandma in two years, she’s 92, and her health is declining. So I…Continue Reading “Miami”

Christmas in the Sun

Every Christmas since I can remember we spend with my dad’s side of the family. So this year it was very fun to go to Miami and be with my mom’s family. Although, being in the sun and heat for Christmas was definitely an adjustment. It was a very busy week and a half! we celebrated my grandma’s birthday ate Nicaraguan food – my favorite is the fried cheese of course spent a lot of time on Snapchat with my nieces … they are three,…Continue Reading “Christmas in the Sun”

Kennedy Krieger, Baltimore

Baltimore was great. It was so fun to be there with friends from home, see patients I’d met from previous trips, and meet new remarkable people. I had the chance to try several new pieces of equipment – something called the Geo, the Smart Drive (a third wheel that goes under my chair, has a motor, and can essentially push me around, all I have to do is steer), walk with the Ekso skeleton, move my legs by putting electrical stimulation on my spine, and…Continue Reading “Kennedy Krieger, Baltimore”

Playa Del Carmen

We made it to and from Mexico … and with only a few hiccups and a whole lot of adventure. Going through security has always been a breeze; however, on our way to Mexico that wasn’t the case. My bag with all the medical supplies got stopped because I carry sterile water to clean out my catheter and they had to run tests on it. Next thing we know my dad is getting a pat down and they’ve called the “bomb specialist” – who shows…Continue Reading “Playa Del Carmen”

I do believe it’s time for another adventure

I’m not the type of person to let my injury affect what I love or who I am – especially when it comes to traveling. The last few days I’ve been getting ready for a trip to Mexico. While I’ve managed to continue traveling since my injury it’s definitely different for a variety of reasons – one being packing. I’ve always hated packing because I stress out about what clothes/outfits to bring on trips … I’m such an over packer. But now packing is even…Continue Reading “I do believe it’s time for another adventure”
