Seahawks game in the sun

In September, we escaped the gray rainy weather for a few days and headed down to sunny, hot Arizona. My dad and his business partners bought a house there to rent on Airbnb and then each partner and their family can use it a couple weeks a year. About a year ago, when my dad told me they bought the house, the first thing I said was, “our family gets it the weekend the Seahawks play the Cardinals!!” I’m a huge Seahawks fan but can’t…Continue Reading “Seahawks game in the sun”

Facing Myself

About a year ago, a photographer I know, Kendra, reached out to me about participating in a project she was going to be working on. It’s called The Impossible Boudoir Project. She told me she would be working with twelve brave women over the course of the next year who felt that boudoir was impossible for them. Whether it was because they thought they were too fat, too thin, too strong, too old, have a disability, have a skin condition, have scars all over their…Continue Reading “Facing Myself”

If at First You Don’t Succeed…

You guys, guess what!? The other day I tried getting in the car by myself, including breaking down my chair and hauling it into the car. And I DID THE DAMN THING!! I have wanted to do this on my own for 7.5 years. And I finally did it! Now let me start at the beginning.  About a year ago I spent maybe a week practicing getting in/out of my car and breaking down my chair and putting it back together. I quickly lost motivation…Continue Reading “If at First You Don’t Succeed…”

Fun at the Fair

Hubby and I recently went to the Evergreen State Fair and boy did I feel like a kid in a candy shop. We had SO much fun together. I think it’s so important in any relationship to make time for each other, going on dates, and making new memories together. After we got married we kind of stopped going out and doing fun things between our jobs, projects around the house, spending time with family, etc. We stopped making time for just us. We realized…Continue Reading “Fun at the Fair”

Celebrations

My mom and I hosted a couple showers this summer at my house – a bridal shower for my cousin Ellen and a baby shower for my longest time friend Emily. We had so much fun planning the decorations, choosing the games, organizing the menu, making the invitations, etc. The weather was hot, sunny, and beautiful for both showers. We were able to have our french doors open and spend the majority of the time outside. My mom made the cutest cookies for both showers….Continue Reading “Celebrations”

I Do’s with a View

We had so much fun going to Oregon for my cousin’s wedding! We stayed in Hood River at our friends’ house. What a cute town – we would love to go back when we have more time and explore and watch the wind surfers. We went to a little breakfast place that came highly recommended. It was quite delicious and as always I ordered wayyy to much food – a ham and egg scramble, hashbrowns, pancakes, 2 huge biscuits, and some bacon. Yum. During our…Continue Reading “I Do’s with a View”

Miami

This post is a bit late but I love the pictures so much I had to still share about my time in Miami. This was a bit of an impromptu trip. While Marty and I were in Mexico for our honeymoon, my mom told me she and my dad were going to visit my grandma shortly after we got back. I immediately asked if I could join – I hadn’t seen my grandma in two years, she’s 92, and her health is declining. So I…Continue Reading “Miami”

’19 Wedding Season Begins

I had the best time celebrating the marriage of my cousin and his wife! Plus, I always love spending time with family – it’s my favorite thing to do.  When we checked into our hotel the front desk informed us they were overbooked and had no accessible rooms left. We have found ourselves in this situation a handful of times and it is simply not acceptable at all. They managed to get us in a regular room that night, which we were able to make…Continue Reading “’19 Wedding Season Begins”

DIY Shelves Project… Success!

When we remodeled our house I wanted a space for built-in shelves. When figuring out the layout of everything, I found the perfect place next to our fireplace to have them. Before Marty and I moved into our house my mom and I took measurements of where the shelves were going so we could get them ordered. It only took about a year … but finally a month ago we started looking on Etsy for different shelf options. I knew I wanted old, distressed, stained…Continue Reading “DIY Shelves Project… Success!”
